Diamond Necklace: How to Choose and How Much Does It Cost?

At BELLER, we design diamond necklaces to rest exactly where you want to see them every day: in the hollow of your collarbone, just above your heart. Three things determine the character of such a necklace: the length of the chain, the carat weight of the stone, and the gold purity in which the diamond is set. For everyday wear, a delicate model with a single diamond on a 42-45 cm chain is most beautiful. Our diamond necklaces start from 3,250 PLN, and each stone has a D-E color and VVS1 clarity.

This is jewelry bought for years, often for a significant anniversary or to commemorate an important moment. Therefore, it's good to understand what you're truly paying for and what makes one necklace look expensive and another cheap, despite a similar price.

A diamond necklace has something no other ornament can provide. It rests in the hollow of the collarbone, just above the heart, and remains in sight all day. You see it when you look in the mirror, you feel its delicate weight with every movement. That's why it becomes more than an accessory: a personal sign that easily intertwines with a memory. This is why so many of our clients choose it for moments they want to remember forever.

What Diamond Weight in a Necklace Makes Sense?

In a necklace, a diamond behaves differently than in a ring. It lies flat on the skin, with light shining from above, so it sparkles even at a smaller weight. This is good news for your wallet too.

A 0.10 ct stone is subtle and perfectly suited for everyday wear. A weight of 0.15-0.20 ct gives a distinct sparkle visible from a distance, while remaining elegantly discreet. Above 0.30 ct, the necklace transforms into an evening ornament that catches the eye. At BELLER, diamonds above 0.3 ct come with a GIA certificate, and smaller ones with a BELLER gemologist certificate, so you always know what you're wearing.

There's no point in chasing the largest possible stone at the expense of its quality. A D-E color and VVS1 clarity diamond, even in a subtle size, has a pure, icy sparkle that immediately reveals a true, well-chosen stone. A larger, but lower-grade stone, can look murky and gray, especially in natural daylight. In a necklace worn close to the face, this difference is particularly noticeable, which is why we always prioritize quality first, and only then size.

What is VVS1 Clarity?

VVS1 is one of the highest diamond clarity grades. It means that under ten times magnification, only very minute internal characteristics are visible, and to the naked eye, the stone is perfectly clean. Paired with D-E color, the whitest possible, this gives an icy, transparent sparkle that is exceptionally visible in a necklace.

What Chain Length Will Be Best?

The length determines where the diamond will rest and how the necklace will lie on the décolletage.

  • 40 cm: short, just below the neck, beautiful with shirts and under a jacket.
  • 42-45 cm: the most versatile length, the stone rests in the hollow of the collarbone.
  • 50 cm and more: the necklace hangs lower, excellent for deeper necklines and for layering with other chains.

If you like to wear several necklaces at once, choose two different lengths so they don't tangle. We'd be happy to help you choose the right proportions during a fitting.

It's also good to match the length to what you wear most often. A shorter necklace looks best with button-down shirts and jackets, looking elegant with an open collar. A longer chain drapes more gracefully with V-neck sweaters and summer dresses. Many of our clients choose a model with adjustable length, allowing one necklace to be worn in several ways, depending on the occasion and mood.

How Much Does a Diamond Necklace Cost?

At BELLER, diamond necklaces start from 3,250 PLN, and the collection currently includes over a dozen carefully designed models. The price is made up of three things: the weight and quality of the diamond, the gold purity, and the weight of the chain and setting itself. A 750 purity necklace costs more than a 585 one because it contains more pure gold, but it also has a warmer, deeper color. Engraving, such as a date or the initials of a loved one, is done free of charge.

Also remember that a significant part of the necklace's price is the chain itself, which is almost unnoticeable in everyday wear. A chain that is too thin can tangle and break more easily, so it's better to choose a solid, well-made link proportionate to the size of the diamond. This is one of those details we don't skimp on, as it determines the overall durability. A well-chosen necklace will last for years and can easily pass from one generation to the next.

Diamond Necklace as a Gift: What to Remember?

This is one of the most beautiful gifts because it is personal and yet universally sized. You don't need to know a finger circumference like with a ring; just match the chain length to the style of the recipient. If you're unsure, opt for a classic 42-45 cm and 585 purity in yellow or white gold. Every order is packaged in elegant wrapping, and delivery within Poland is free. You also have 14 days for returns if anything needs to be exchanged.

Frequently Asked Questions About Diamond Necklaces

Can you sleep and shower in a diamond necklace?

You can wear a delicate necklace everyday, but it's better to take it off for sleeping and showering. Soap and cosmetics can build up on the stone and dull its sparkle, and the chain can tangle more easily during sleep.

How to care for a diamond necklace?

Wipe it with a soft cloth and put it on after perfume and makeup. Every now and then, have it professionally cleaned so the diamond can regain its full sparkle.

How many carats of diamond should I choose for everyday wear?

For everyday wear, 0.10-0.15 ct works excellently. It's subtle, safe, and beautifully sparkly, while remaining affordable.

Where can I see BELLER diamond necklaces?

At BELLER boutiques: in Warsaw at Mokotowska 71 and in Krakow at Szczepańska 9, from Monday to Saturday between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

An Example from Our Workshop

Let's take a specific model: the gold Promise necklace with a 0.1 carat diamond. A single stone rests precisely in the hollow of the collarbone, and at this weight, it catches the light every day without overwhelming the outfit. The diamond has a D-E color and VVS1 clarity, and its quality is confirmed by a certificate: GIA for stones above 0.3 carats, and for smaller ones, a BELLER gemologist certificate. If you're looking for something more expressive, the Promise N°1 diamond necklace combines several stones in one refined setting and blooms beautifully for an evening. The chain and setting are made of hallmarked 585 or 750 purity gold, and the entire piece is handmade in our workshop. This jewelry is designed to last for decades and safely pass from mother to daughter, which is why we look not only at beauty but also at the durability of each link.
