14K or 18K gold, i.e., what determines the price of a wedding ring
This is the first question that actually affects the cost of a wedding ring. 14 karat gold, marked with a 585 hallmark, contains 58.5% pure gold. 18 karat gold, 750 hallmark, contains 75% pure precious metal, so at the same weight, it is simply more expensive.
The price difference is not the only argument. 14K gold is harder and more scratch-resistant because it contains more alloy metals, which is important for jewelry worn daily for decades. 18K gold is softer, but its color is deeper and more intense, especially in the yellow version. In Poland, most wedding rings are sold in the 585 hallmark, precisely for practical and price reasons, but the final choice is best made after trying both versions at the atelier.

In addition to the gold purity, the price of a wedding ring is affected by: weight and width (a wider ring means more precious metal), gold color, type of finish, and potential personalization.
