Uncompromising Quality
The highest quality of diamonds is a paramount principle for BELLER, one we understand as a form of responsibility toward beauty. A diamond is light that nature has sealed within a crystal, which is why every diamond in our jewelry is natural. Colorless diamonds are distinguished by D-E color, corresponding to the two highest grades on the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) scale, and their high clarity, in the VVS1 to VS1 range, ensures that inclusions are revealed only under an experienced gemologist’s loupe.
Certification bears witness to these qualities: diamonds of 0.3 carats and above are accompanied by a report from the independent GIA institute, while smaller stones are described in a certificate from a BELLER gemologist. Every piece of jewelry also receives a BELLER certificate of authenticity. The light of a diamond is best experienced in a direct encounter with the stone. Diamond vs. Brilliant
A diamond is a mineral, pure carbon in its hardest known form. A brilliant, on the other hand, is a diamond cut in a specific way, using the brilliant cut, which maximizes its sparkle and play of light. Every brilliant is a diamond, but not every diamond becomes a brilliant. It is the precise cutting and polishing that give it its legendary brilliance.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grades diamonds on the 4Cs, four criteria it developed itself: clarity, cut, carat weight, and color. We assess every one of our diamonds on all four, and below we show what each of them means.
Clarity
We select colorless diamonds for BELLER jewelry in VVS1 to VS1 clarity. These are the Very Very Slightly Included and Very Slightly Included grades: inclusions so minute that even an experienced gemologist sees them only under a loupe, and even then only with difficulty.
Clarity, as defined by the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in its 4C grading system, refers to the presence of natural inclusions, that is, internal characteristics such as microscopic crystals, pinpoints, clouds, or tiny fractures, as well as surface blemishes on a diamond. These formations develop over millions of years deep within the Earth, serving as a unique imprint of the diamond’s geological history. The fewer such imperfections, the rarer, more transparent, and more valuable the diamond becomes. GIA assesses clarity under 10x magnification, classifying diamonds on a precise scale that determines their exceptional quality and worth.
Cut
At BELLER, we select every diamond individually and without compromise. We believe that cut is the heart of a diamond: it brings the stone to life, shapes its character, and unlocks its unique brilliance.
Cut, according to the 4C grading system of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), refers to the way a diamond has been shaped and polished, directly influencing its brilliance, proportions, and ability to reflect light. It is the only factor in the 4C system that is entirely dependent on human craftsmanship. Precision cutting can either maximize a diamond’s radiance or diminish its sparkle.
A perfectly cut diamond reflects light from one facet to another, directing it back through the crown and creating the mesmerizing effect known as “brilliance” and “fire.” Even a diamond with excellent clarity and exceptional color will not shine to its full potential if its cut is not executed to perfection.
Carat
BELLER diamonds keep the same grades at every carat weight. We select colorless stones, from the smallest to the largest, in D-E color and VVS1 to VS1 clarity.
Carat, in the 4C scale, is determined by the weight of the diamond, measured in carats (ct). One carat is equal to 0.2 grams. While larger diamonds are rarer and more valuable, the weight itself does not dictate their quality. Equally important are the cut, color, and clarity, which influence the optical appearance of the stone.
Two diamonds of the same weight can appear quite different. If a diamond is poorly cut and too flat, it may seem larger but won’t reflect light well. On the other hand, a perfectly cut diamond with a smaller weight may shine much more intensely than a larger diamond with poor proportions.
In the world of luxury jewelry, carat is a number, but it is the cut that determines brilliance. At BELLER, we select diamonds so that every characteristic, from carat to cut, creates a perfect harmony of light and elegance.
Color
At the top of the GIA color scale stand two grades, D and E: we select colorless BELLER diamonds in these two grades alone.
Color, in the 4C scale, refers to the natural hue of a diamond, or more accurately, the absence of it. By this criterion, the most valuable diamonds are colorless because the purity of their structure allows light to pass through and reflect freely, creating an intense brilliance.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) classifies diamonds on a scale from D to Z, with D representing the highest grade: the rarest and most sought-after stones. Aware of their power, we choose stones that tell the story of light in its purest and most beautiful form.
BELLER Diamonds
Every diamond in BELLER jewelry is natural, and we select each one individually. For colorless stones we choose D-E color and VVS1 to VS1 clarity. In our workshop we design each setting for a specific stone, so that light enters it from every side. We include a report from the independent GIA institute with every diamond of 0.3 carats and above. Every piece of jewelry receives a BELLER certificate of authenticity, with a description prepared by a gemologist.
