Earrings are the one kind of jewelry you never see on yourself except in a mirror. You cannot weigh them in your own palm or turn them in your fingers until they hang beside your face. That is why we invite you to choose earrings in person: at the BELLER boutique at Szczepańska 9 in Kraków and at Mokotowska 71 in Warsaw, where you put the same pair on, feel its weight on your ear and watch it move.
Below we describe what such a fitting looks like, how many designs you will see in the display cases of both cities, what the weight of an earring tells you and what we can change in the pair you choose before it goes into the box.
Where in Kraków and Warsaw can you try on BELLER earrings?
In Kraków you can try on BELLER earrings at Szczepańska 9 in the Old Town, and in Warsaw at Mokotowska 71 in Śródmieście, in both boutiques from Monday to Saturday between 11:00 and 19:00. No appointment is needed, you simply walk in. If you prefer a reserved hour and an unhurried conversation, call Kraków on +48 798 011 311, Warsaw on +48 731 091 091, or book a meeting through the contact page.
Both collections, gold and silver, are available in both cities; only the address and the view from the window differ. If you live in a third city, we will advise you by phone and show photos and videos of specific pairs, leaving the fitting for a visit when you are passing through. What else you will find in the display cases is described in our text on jewelry in Kraków and Warsaw.
Why should earrings not be chosen from a screen?
Because a photograph shows the form but not the three things that decide whether you will wear them: the weight on your ear, the movement beside your face and how the fastening sits in your own ear. An earring weighing half a gram and one weighing seven grams look the same on a screen and differ from the first minute on the ear.
In the boutique you put on both pairs, take a few steps, turn your head and watch how the gold catches the light by the window and under the lamp. We hold the three colours of gold, yellow, white and rose, beside your face in the mirror, because the mirror decides, not a chart. No two ears are perfectly symmetrical, so a pair that hangs evenly in a photograph proves itself on you only in person.
How many earring designs will you see in the display cases?
Our collection today holds more than a hundred designs of gold earrings, from 800 zł for the small Liquid N°12 to the Bridal line, where diamonds cover the entire form. Alongside them are 61 designs of silver earrings priced from 550 zł to 2 250 zł and 33 pairs of diamond earrings from 1 650 zł. Every pair is made by hand in our own atelier in Warsaw, in 585 or 750 gold, in yellow, white or rose, and silver in 925.
In the display cases the lines lie side by side, so in one afternoon you can compare the geometric Cube with the organic Liquid, the raw Raw with the ribbed Elements, and the classic Round and Twirl hoops with the irregular On the edge. How these lines differ is described in a separate text on the BELLER collections.

What does the weight of an earring on the ear tell you?
Weight tells you how much precious metal you are getting and how the earring will behave after a full day. Liquid N°12 weighs 0.52 g at 7 by 4 mm, so you forget about them within moments. The On the edge N°1 earrings carry 5.6 g of gold in an irregular hoop 20 mm across, and Smok Wawelski N°1 from the Kraków Collection weighs 7.14 g, because like all our jewelry it is solid metal through and through, not stamped from thin sheet.
You feel this difference at once when you pick up both pairs in the boutique and then put them on one after the other. Solid metal means the earring will not deform when fastened and will survive decades of polishing. For some this argues for the heavier pair for the evening, for others for the lighter one for every day, which is why we do not settle it for you, we simply lay both on the counter.
How does the same form look in gold and in silver?
Several designs exist in two metals, and this is the best moment to see them side by side. The Cube N°1 earrings in gold cost 1 950 zł; the same 3.5 by 3.5 mm form in silver costs 950 zł, and both hold an identical diamond of colour D and clarity VVS1. Smok Wawelski N°1 earrings are 8 050 zł in gold and 1 550 zł in silver, with the same dragon scale rendered in the texture.
Our silver is hardened and coated with a layer of rhodium, so it does not tarnish and in the light resembles white gold. In person you can see that a rhodium-plated surface gathers light differently under a lamp and beside a window, one of those differences no photograph conveys. Why rhodium-plated silver keeps its shine is explained on our page about silver jewelry.
Which earrings tell the story of Kraków?
The Kraków Collection is three lines inspired by the city: Witraż krakowski, Smok Wawelski and Barbakan, available in both boutiques, although at Szczepańska 9, two minutes from the Main Square, they are most often chosen by visitors who want to take home something more than a photograph. In the Witraż krakowski N°1 earrings, priced at 3 450 zł, we set eight stones with a total weight of 0.16 CT: four blue sapphires, two green sapphires and two yellow garnets, arranged in a line that recalls the palette of the stained glass of Wyspiański and Mehoffer.
All three lines are made in our atelier in Warsaw and travel to both cities, so a Kraków motif can just as well be chosen at Mokotowska. You will find the whole line in the Kraków Collection.

Can diamond earrings be compared in person?
Yes, and that is precisely why they lie in one display case. The Promise N°4 earrings carry two diamonds with a total weight of 0.07 CT, each 2 mm across, and cost 4 150 zł. Promise N°3 holds two stones with a total weight of 0.50 CT, each 4.2 mm across, for 19 000 zł. Between them lies the whole scale of how a diamond shines beside the ear, and you see that scale in a minute by holding both pairs up in turn.
In every pair we work exclusively with natural diamonds of colour D to E and clarity VVS1, and in the On the edge N°1 earrings at 9 850 zł twenty such stones with a total weight of 0.42 CT run along the irregular hoop. Every pair comes with a numbered certificate. How to choose between studs and drops is covered separately in our text on diamond earrings; here what matters is that you put both kinds on in the boutique.
What can we change in the pair you choose?
The colour of the gold, the fineness, the surface finish and, in many designs, the stone. The Raw N°8 earrings at 4 750 zł have a movable part and three levels of adjustment, so one pair is worn in several variations, and the finish, colour and fineness are chosen separately for each element. If you like a design in the display case in yellow gold but prefer white, we will make it in your colour.
If you lose one earring of a pair, we will make a second to match the one that remains. A made-to-measure pair is completed as standard within 3 to 5 working days and never longer than 7 working days from confirmation of the order. We also take express orders, once the date has been agreed with the atelier. How a pair is created from scratch is described in our text on custom earrings.

What happens to the earrings after purchase?
They stay in our care. Basic service for BELLER jewelry is lifelong and free of charge: an inspection of the piece, polishing and refreshing of the surface in our atelier. All you need to do is bring the pair to the boutique in Kraków or Warsaw, and we take care of the rest. The scope of the service is described in our text on jewelry service at BELLER.
One last thing cannot be checked from a screen: an earring beside your face in the light of the boutique looks different from one in a photograph beside someone else's. Come to Szczepańska 9 in Kraków or Mokotowska 71 in Warsaw and put on a few pairs. The atelier in Kraków and the atelier in Warsaw are open Monday to Saturday.
